How to prepare

Can I take my camera on board during the flight?

Yes you can, during aerobatics you will be asked to hang on tight! Tying it to your wrist is the best option.

Are there any medical restrictions?

We do not have any medial restrictions, if you are fit enough to fly in a normal commercial flight then you can fly with us.

Is there a maximum weight?

Yes, around 120kg is the limit.

Is there an age limit?

There are no age limits. Children can fly by themselves if in the opinion of the pilot, parents/guardian they are mature and responsible enough to do so. The pilot does not have direct contact with the passenger during the flight and we don't recommend children under 6 yrs of age flying by themselves.

I don't have photo ID to get into the base, what should I do?

Please let us know when you book your flight and we will alert the front gates to let you through.

Can I get a video of the flight?

Yes we do full DVDs of the flights for $140, and USBs for $150 it is posted out to you within 14 days of your flight.

What number Point Cook Road is it, I need to key it into my GPS.

There is no number, but just enter 503 Point Cook Road and this will bring you close to the entrance of the base, you will see the gates in front of you.

Do you do gift vouchers?

Yes we do gift vouchers and we can email or post these out to you, they are valid for 12 months. See our joy flight gift vouchers page

It is vitally important you are on time for your flight as we run our flights one following the other, if you are running late there is a high possibility you will loose your spot and need to pay a $50 rescheduling fee before being booked on another day.

• If Joy Flights Melbourne have to cancel your flight due to weather or unforeseen circumstances you are able to re-book at your convenience. Flights are not refundable if canceled in these circumstances.
• Under the National Australian Consumer Laws no refunds are given if you simply change your mind.
• If you have been rescheduled due to weather or unforeseen circumstances then you are given 6 months to rebook your flight at your convenience.
• No part of your booking can be refunded, but it is fully transferable to another person.
• If you need to cancel your flight we require 48 hours notice prior to flight.
• Please note cancellations or rescheduling will incur a $50 administration fee if it is less than 48 hours notice to your flight.

• You must arrive at the Hanger 15 minutes prior to your scheduled flight. We advise arriving at the base 30 minutes prior to your flight as it can take up to 15 minutes to get through the base to our hanger.
• Please note on arrival at the Hangar if there is no one there it is because they are on flights. Please make yourself at home in the hanger. DO NOT venture out to meet the plane as it lands.
• Keep your mobile phone on, and close by, as we may need to reschedule due to weather, or unforeseen circumstances.
• Eat light meals during the day so that you are not flying on an empty stomach.
• Don’t drink any alcohol for at least 24 hours prior to flying.
• Wear comfortable and warm clothing, with flat shoes. We will provide you with a leather jacket, hat and goggles.

What if the weather is bad on the day of my flight?

All decisions regarding the weather will be made on the day of your flight as forecasts are not always that reliable. Please make sure you have given us a mobile number and have it switched on on the day. If we are unable to contact you it may result in an unnecessary trip to Point Cook or a long wait if the flights have been delayed. The pilots will do their best to give as much notice as they can on the day but please let us know if you require more than 2 hours notice of any changes to your booking.

If you flight is canceled due to weather we will rebook your flight for another date. If you do not want to book again straight away that is fine, you have up to 6 months to rebook after a cancellation due to weather so you do not need to worry about the expiry date of any vouchers.

Can I bring spectators?

Yes you bring along as many spectators as you like, just remember that anyone coming into the base over 14 years of age needs photo ID to get through the front gates.

What days do you fly?

We fly every weekend and can arrange weekday flights also if you need to have your flight on a particular date.

What times do you fly?

We fly all day long, it will depend on which date you select as to what times are left available.

If I am unsure of aerobatics, can I upgrade on the day?

Absolutely you can, have a chat with your pilot on the day and if you are still unsure you can even upgrade in the air. You can also upgrade to the DVD on the day of your flight.
